The Plajer Group at the University of Bayreuth invites applications for a Ph.D. position focused on the synthesis of sustainable and recyclable sulfur-containing polymers. This research aims to enhance the recyclability and functionality of plastics, contributing to a more sustainable polymer economy. The research will explore the preparation of sulfur-containing polymers and their ability to conduct heat, aiming to achieve metal-like properties while improving recyclability.

The Plajer Group conducts innovative research aimed at integrating functional main group and transition metal centers into polymers, making plastic materials more degradable and recyclable. Key aspects of the project include:

1.  Synthesis of new monomers and polymerization under inert conditions.
2.  Materials characterization and testing.
3. Collaboration with the Physical Chemistry Department to analyze heat transport within the new materials
