Description: The REDUCE project aims to unify stakeholder efforts and utilize an interdisciplinary scientific approach to reduce bycatch of marine megafauna and inform sustainable fishery management in the Eastern Central Atlantic Ocean. The project will focus on diagnosing and integrating bycatch data across industrial European fleets, expanding and improving observer programs, and developing advanced tracking and predictive habitat mapping techniques
Eligibility
- PhD or equivalent in a relevant field
- Expertise in advanced statistical techniques, particularly capture-mark-recapture models for demographic studies and survival analysis
- Knowledge of population ecology and experience in modelling species population dynamics
- Strong foundation in statistics and probability
- Proficiency in handling and integrating large datasets from diverse sources such as GPS/GLS tracking, vessel tracking systems, and environmental databases
- Familiarity with spatial data and integrating tracking information with environmental variables
- Understanding of climate change models and their integration with ecological and demographic data
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal
