• Description:

    The Center for Development Research (ZEF) at the University of Bonn, Germany, invites applications for three Doctoral Researcher positions in Agricultural/Development Economics as part of the project "Dynamics of Agricultural Innovation in Vietnam." Funded by the CGIAR Standing Panel on Impact Assessment (SPIA) and conducted in partnership with the Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA), this project focuses on analyzing agricultural technology adoption and impacts using survey and remote sensing data.

    Position Highlights:

    • Funding and Duration: Three-year stipend contract
    • Doctoral Integration: Part of ZEF’s Doctoral Program (BIGS-DR) for a PhD degree from the University of Bonn
    • Supervision: By Prof. Matin Qaim, Prof. David Wuepper, and VNUA colleagues
    • Start Date: As soon as possible

    Responsibilities:

    • Collect and analyze quantitative household survey data (VHLSS, TVSEP), remote sensing data, and qualitative stakeholder interviews in Vietnam
    • Collaborate with VNUA, CGIAR, and policymakers
    • Conduct econometric analyses on agricultural innovation impacts on productivity, income, poverty, water use, and GHG emissions
    • Publish and present research in international journals

    Candidate Profile:

    • Master’s degree (or near completion) in agricultural/development economics or a related field
    • Proficiency in quantitative research methods and statistical software
    • Strong English communication skills and intercultural competence
    • Willingness to travel internationally; experience in data collection in Vietnam or similar regions and knowledge of remote sensing is a plus
