• Description:

The Department of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering at Oklahoma State University (OSU) is inviting applications for one or two Graduate Research Assistantship (GRA) positions in the field of Water Resources. These positions are open for highly motivated and talented Ph.D. students to begin in Spring 2024, Summer 2025, or Fall 2025. The selected candidate(s) will join the Hydrological Extremes Lab, which specializes in cutting-edge research on flooding and drought.

The selected Ph.D. students will be involved in advanced research related to flooding and drought, addressing significant challenges in modeling and managing these natural hazards. The research will involve the use of a broad range of physical and statistical techniques, including hydrologic/hydrodynamic models, geospatial methods with GIS, machine learning, and data assimilation methods. The students will work within the Hydrological Extremes Lab at OSU, contributing to the lab’s mission of understanding and mitigating the impacts of extreme hydrological events.

    How to Apply:

Interested candidates should email Dr. K.J. Jafarzadegan at kj.jafarzadegan@okstate.edu with the subject line “HEL-Application 2024/2025.” The email should include the following attachments:

    • A cover letter
    • Current curriculum vitae (CV)
    • Contact information for three academic references
    • An example publication (either a peer-reviewed journal paper or a master’s thesis) demonstrating experience in hydrologic/hydrodynamic/data-driven modeling.

Applications are being accepted on a rolling basis for start dates in Spring 2024, Summer 2025, or Fall 2025. Early applications are encouraged.
