    Yale Institute for Biospheric Studies (YIBS) is inviting nominations for the Gaylord Donnelley Postdoctoral Environmental Fellowship. This prestigious fellowship honors the legacy of Gaylord Donnelley, a dedicated conservationist, and is funded by the Gaylord and Dorothy Donnelley Foundation and the Donnelley Family. The fellowship is designed to support early-career researchers in the environmental sciences by providing an opportunity to conduct innovative research under the mentorship of a Yale faculty member.

    The Gaylord Donnelley Postdoctoral Environmental Fellowship is a two-year fellowship that cannot be renewed. Fellows will conduct research under the mentorship of a Yale faculty member, who will provide the necessary research infrastructure, including office and lab space, as well as research funds in addition to the fellowship’s contingency fund. Fellows may also have the opportunity to teach a seminar course in their area of specialization.

    Benefits:

    • Annual salary: $68,000 plus fringe benefits
    • $10,000 in contingency funds for research-related expenses

    Qualifications 

    • Individuals who have been awarded a PhD degree within the past three years or who will soon be awarded a PhD degree are eligible for nomination.
    • Yale PhD graduates and individuals already in residence at Yale are not eligible.

    Application

    Interested candidates cannot apply directly; they must be nominated by a Yale faculty member who will act as their mentor. The faculty member must submit a nomination letter that includes:

    1. A description of their relationship with the nominee
    2. Justification for why the nominee is an outstanding candidate
    3.  Details on how the nominee’s proposed research is innovative and complements the faculty member’s research group
    4. A list of research facilities and equipment accessible to the nominee
    5.  An explanation of how the nominee’s research and outreach efforts will enhance diversity, equity, and inclusiveness
