The Schwarzman Scholars Program is a prestigious, fully-funded international scholarship program designed to prepare the next generation of global leaders. Established in 2016 and inspired by the Rhodes Scholarship, it aims to bring together a diverse cohort of young leaders from around the world to study and develop their leadership skills at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China.

Key Features:

Master’s Degree in Global Affairs: Scholars pursue a one-year Master's degree in Global Affairs with concentrations in Public Policy, Economics and Business, or International Studies.
Leadership Training: The program emphasizes the development of leadership skills, with opportunities for networking, mentorship, and practical experience.

Eligibility Criteria:

Age: Candidates must be at least 18 but not yet 29 years of age as of August 1 of their Schwarzman Scholars enrollment year.
Academic Qualifications: Applicants must have successfully completed their undergraduate degree or first degree from an accredited college or university. All fields of study are eligible.
English Language Proficiency: Applicants whose native language is not English must demonstrate English proficiency. Acceptable test options include:
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) – Minimum score of 100 (internet-based).
IELTS (International English Language Testing System) – Minimum score of 7.
Cambridge English Qualifications – Minimum score of 185.
Leadership Potential: Candidates should demonstrate exemplary leadership qualities and the potential to make a significant impact in their respective fields.
Professional Experience: While there is no minimum work experience requirement, candidates with practical experience, whether through internships, employment, or volunteer work, are viewed favorably.

Benefits

Expenses for Schwarzman Scholars are also fully covered by the program, including the following: tuition, fees, room and board, travel to and from Beijing at the beginning and end of the academic year, in-country study tours, required course books and supplies, a Lenovo laptop, health insurance, and a personal stipend.

Application Process:

Essays and Personal Statement: Submit a personal statement and several essays outlining leadership experience, career goals, and interest in the program.
Letters of Recommendation: Provide three letters of recommendation from professors, employers, or others who can attest to the candidate’s qualifications and leadership potential.
Academic Transcripts: Submit official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended.
Interview: Selected applicants will be invited for an interview as part of the final selection process.
