• Description:

Join the Nanoscale Bacteriology Lab at the Rudolf Virchow Center, University of Würzburg, Germany, in pioneering research at the intersection of microbiology, advanced microscopy, and artificial intelligence. We’re offering two PhD positions funded by the Bavarian Distinguished Professorship Programme, focusing on understanding bacterial organization and antibiotic action. If you’re passionate about basic research and have a background in life sciences, this is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge scientific exploration.

The Nanoscale Bacteriology Lab, led by Dr. Christoph Spahn, is dedicated to unraveling the mysteries of bacterial organization and their interactions with antibiotics. We employ a multidisciplinary approach, combining super-resolution microscopy, drug treatments, and artificial intelligence to generate insightful images and deepen our understanding of antibiotic action. As part of our team, you’ll engage in groundbreaking research complemented by basic microbiological and biochemical methods, contributing to a holistic understanding of bacterial behavior.
