    The selected candidate will join Prof. Jennifer Vandooren’s research group to investigate the regulation of proteases during inflammation and tissue healing, focusing on their impact on macrophage function. This project offers an opportunity to uncover new targets for immunomodulation and contribute to the understanding of inflammatory diseases. Methodologies will involve isolation and activation of primary macrophages/microglia, protease assays, and models for neuroinflammation/neurodegeneration.

    In addition to conducting research, the candidate will provide teaching support within the biomedical sciences and medicine programs, particularly in basic biostatistics and immunology courses for bachelor’s students.

    Qualification:

    1. Master’s degree in biomedical sciences, bioscience engineering, biochemistry, biology, or related fields.
    2. Strong background in cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or related disciplines.
    3. Passion for immunology and a keen interest in contributing to education within biomedical sciences and medicine programs.
    4. Willingness to work with patient samples and animal models.
    5. Proficiency in R programming preferred, with a readiness to acquire additional training if needed.
    6. Excellent academic writing and communication skills.
    7. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team.
    8. Critical thinking skills and creativity.
