• Description:

Embark on an exciting research journey with our PhD opportunity focusing on harnessing spin-orbit coupling (SOC) on epitaxial compounds. Join the ERC CoG MAGNETALLIEN project at the Institut Jean Lamour in Nancy, France, and explore novel approaches to spintronics and nanomagnetism. This fully funded position offers the chance to work within a dynamic research group and contribute to cutting-edge advancements in materials science and engineering.

As part of the ERC CoG MAGNETALLIEN project, this PhD position focuses on probing AC detection of spin pumping signals and their high harmonics. The selected candidate will be responsible for growing epitaxial compounds, carrying out micro/nano fabrication of devices, and conducting electrical and magneto-transport characterizations. Additionally, the candidate will evaluate the efficiency of spin-charge current interconversion rates using various techniques such as DC spin pumping and spin-torque ferromagnetic resonance.

The student will work within the SPIN research group at the Institut Jean Lamour under the supervision of Dr. J. Carlos Rojas-Sánchez, Dr. Sébastien Petit-Watelot, and Dr. Stéphane Andrieu. The project aims to develop new magnetic memory and spintronic devices, as well as explore applications in spin-caloritronics.

    Qualification:

    • Desired level of education: Master’s degree in Physics
    • Experience required: Master’s degree
    • Background in solid-state physics
    • Knowledge of spintronics and/or nanomagnetism is a plus
    • Programming skills in Python, Mathematica, and/or LabVIEW are advantageous
    • Ability to work in cleanroom environments

    How to Apply:

Interested candidates should apply through the CNRS website using the following link: PhD Application Link.
