Here are compilations of funding opportunities to pursue Masters or doctoral programs in Public Health:
1. University of Waterloo, Canada
Deadline- January 15
A supervisor must be secured before an applicant is eligible to receive an offer of admission.
A variety of scholarships, assistantships, and other forms of financial aid are available for graduate students in the School of Public Health Sciences. Most of these awards are for full-time graduate students enrolled in research-based degree programs.
Full-time MSc (thesis-based) students are guaranteed funding. Funding normally comes in the form of a Teaching Assistantship (TA), Research Assistantship (RA) or a major award.
The Faculty of Health is committed to providing funding over four years to support new full-time domestic doctoral students as part of its PhD funding initiative. Students may also be eligible for additional scholarship and funding opportunities.
2. University of British Columbia, Canada
Canadian Institute of Health Research (CIHR)
Graduate Scholarships $35,000
Eligibility : PhD

IHSPR Rising Star Award
$1,000 award, travel support and publication.
Eligibility : Graduate students and/or post-doctoral fellows studying in all fields and disciplines related to health services and policy research

Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships (administered by CIHR, NSERC, SSHRC)
Vanier Scholars $50,000

International Development Research Centre (IDRC)
IDRC Research Awards (One year salary and travel expenses up to $15,000)
Eligibility: Canadians, permanent residents of Canada, and citizens of developing countries pursuing or completed a master’s or a doctoral degree at a recognized university.

IDRC Doctoral Research Awards ($20,000)
Eligibility: Canadians, permanent residents of Canada, and citizens of developing countries pursuing doctoral studies at a Canadian university.

Trudeau Foundation
Doctoral scholarships ($40,000 plus $20,000 travel allowance)
Eligibility: First year of a PhD at UBC, or be registered in the first or second year of a PhD at UBC

Killam Scholarship and Prize Programmes
Killam Doctoral Scholarship – part of the Affiliated Fellowships Doctoral Competition.
$30,000 per annum for two years and a $2,000 allowance for research-related travel during the 24 months of the scholarship.

Fraser Basin Council
Robert Caton Scholarship is for graduate students with demonstrated interest in atmospheric sciences, air quality and health or policy. Amount: $2000

UNESCO-L’Oréal For Women in Science Canadian National Fellowships
The UNESCO-L’Oréal for Women in Science Canadian National Fellowships are granted annually to promising young women scientists at the doctorate or post-doctorate level in the Life Sciences ($20,000 CAD for postdoc and $5,000 CAD for other applicants).

The Canada-US Fulbright Program is a bi-national program of educational exchange, with a mandate to enhance mutual understanding between the people of Canada and the people of the United States of America. Amount varies according to particular competition within the program

WAGS/UMI Master’s Thesis and Technology Awards
Nominations for the WAGS/UMI Distinguished Master’s Thesis Award will be accepted from any graduate program or department that offers a master’s degree. Amount: $1,000

Globalink Graduate Fellowship
The Globalink Graduate Fellowship provides financial support to former Globalink Research Interns to return to Canada for graduate studies at select Mitacs university partners.
Amount: $15,000

North Pacific Research Board
North Pacific Research Board will award up to six Graduate Student Research Awards (GSRAs) to three qualified master’s students and three doctoral students for the opportunity to address scientific, technological, and socio-economic issues relating to the research themes identified in the 2005 NPRB Science Plan. Amount: $25,000

3. Simon Fraser University, Canada

Dr. Djavad Mowafaghian Doctoral Fellowship in Child Health (PhD entrance fellowship)
Application deadline: January 15
Value: $25,000/year for two years
Eligibility requirements:
Demonstrated academic excellence at the undergraduate level (and graduate level, if applicable)
Complete admission application to the PhD program in the Faculty of Health Sciences at SFU
Proposed doctoral research that will contribute to the improvement of child health research, policy, or practice
Not already holding a doctoral fellowship from SFU or an external source

4. University of Toronto, Canada
The Graduate Department of Public Health Sciences (PHS) in the DLSPH believes that participating in full-time Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) study should not be impeded by individual financial barriers. Accordingly, DLSPH commits to providing limited financial assistance to those students participating in the Four-Year PhD Program, who are registered as full-time students, and are unable to secure enough financial support to sum to a minimum funding threshold.
5. University of Saskatchewan, Canada
College of Graduate and Post-Doctoral Studies
The College of Graduate and Post-Doctoral Studies (CGPS) offers a wide range of awards and scholarships to help students succeed in their programs. Visit the Scholarships and Awards page for information on what's available.

School of Public Health
There are graduate student awards sponsored by the School available for all four programs (MPH, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Vaccinology and Immunotherapeutics) once students have been admitted to their program. Awards are allocated by the respective Program Advisory Committees. The amount of funding available and value of each award varies annually. Once students have entered their program, they may apply to the director of their program for any funding available. Scholarships are usually awarded on the basis of academic merit.

6. University of Michigan, USA
Many doctoral students at the University of Michigan School of Public Health are fully-funded, though because of the individualized nature of doctoral programs, financial aid and funding at this level is largely determined by our departments. Students are encouraged to connect with department coordinators to learn more.
All students admitted to one of our doctoral programs are considered for financial support. There are four types of financial support that we offer our students: Graduate Student Instructor (GSI), Graduate Student Research Assistant (GSRA), Training Grants, and Fellowships.

The Vanderbilt Ph.D. in Health Policy program is committed to offering full financial support to students including tuition, insurance, and fees, in addition to their annual stipend.

Most public health doctoral students are funded through teaching or graduate research assistantships, which include tuition remission and a stipend. Others are funded through scholarships and fellowships.
