The Division of Engineering at New York University Abu Dhabi is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to work on advanced membrane technology for desalination and water treatment, under the supervision of Professor Nidal Hilal, Director of the Water Research Center and Global Professor of Engineering.

The successful candidate will drive an exciting project on developing functional membrane materials, including nanostructured polymer and ceramic membranes tailored to microfiltration, ultrafiltration, membrane distillation, nanofiltration, and reverse osmosis. They will employ advanced membrane fabrication techniques and characterization tools to establish fabrication-structure-property-performance relationships in novel materials for sustainable desalination and water treatment. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment and will manage projects, build deep technical knowledge, and develop transferable solutions. Additionally, the candidate will participate in developing novel concepts, writing proposals, solving complex problems with efficiency and creativity, writing reports, authoring publications, drafting patents, and presenting results at conferences.

Qualifications 

1. PhD in materials science and engineering, chemical engineering, or related field
2. Excellent experimental and analytical skills relevant to the project. Detail-oriented, well-organized, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
3. Demonstrated knowledge of materials science and engineering, membrane fabrication techniques, membrane characterization tools, and separation processes
4. Track record of peer-reviewed publications in related areas and prior expertise in materials science and analytical chemistry are preferred
