    A 100 % position is available at the University of Agder, Faculty of Engineering and Science as a PhD Research Fellow in Mathematics, affiliated to the Department of Mathematical Sciences, for a period of three years, or for suitable candidates four years with 25% required duties. The position is located, at present, at Campus Kristiansand. The starting date is negotiable with the faculty. 

    The department has two major areas of research. It involves research in Mathematics Education and within Mathematics. In Mathematics research is organized in two groups: research within Functional analysis, and research within Differential Equations and Dynamical Systems. The announced position is particularly related to the latter group of research.

     

    The candidate will conduct research in the intersection between stochastic analysis, fluid equations and differential geometry. More specifically, the project will explore rough path techniques applied to fluid models from geometric hydrodynamics. The project can explore topics of rough path analysis and/or geometric hydrodynamics depending on the interest of the candidate.

    Qualifications 

    The candidate must hold a cand. scient. or master’s degree in Mathematics. The successful applicant must have written and spoken English proficiency. English language proficiency should be documented through one of the following tests with the stated results or better:
