    The University of Hong Kong (HKU) and the U.S. National Academy of Medicine (NAM) have established the NAM-HKU Fellowship in Global Health Leadership since 2019. The Fellowship Programme aims to provide two years of training for early to mid-career scholars to learn and work at the HKU School of Public Health and the U.S. National Academy of Medicine in global health leadership.

    The NAM-HKU Fellowship in Global Health Leadership is now calling for applications. One fellow will be selected to begin the Fellowship Programme in 2025.

    . Eligibility Criteria:
    Early to mid-career scholars with a graduate degree (i.e., either a master’s or doctoral degree) and who have completed their post-degree work for 2-10 years.
    Demonstrated interest and commitment in fields such as global health policy, governance, diplomacy, sustainable development, healthy cities, health equity, health systems and economics, or related areas.
     Application Process:
    Only online applications will be accepted.
    The application deadline is November 15, 2024 (Friday), HKT.
    Applicants will need to upload an up-to-date CV and three reference letters along with their online application.
    Shortlisted candidates may be invited for an interview.

    B. Training Program
    The Fellowship Programme consists of three key components:

    1. MPH Programme:
    The Fellow will study the MPH Programme at the HKU School of Public Health (one year full-time, or two years part-time), starting in September.
    The Fellow must meet the MPH Programme admission criteria and undergo the admission process.
    2. HKU SPH Attachment:
    The Fellow will undertake an attachment at HKU School of Public Health, working on a research or knowledge exchange project under the guidance of a professor.
    3. NAM Residential Experience:
    The Fellow will spend two 3-month residencies at the U.S. National Academy of Medicine (NAM) in Washington, D.C., collaborating with a Board, Expert Committee, or Roundtable, and be supported by a NAM faculty mentor.
    For the two 3-month stays at NAM, either one can take place before or after the MPH study, or both can take place after the MPH study.

    To be conferred as a Fellow, the awardee must meet the MPH graduation requirements and complete agreed-upon deliverables with HKU SPH and NAM.

     Fellowship Coverage:
    The Fellowship will include:

    Tuition fee for the MPH Programme.
    Training fee for the NAM Residential Experience.
    Round-trip airfare from Hong Kong to Washington, D.C. for the NAM Residential Experience.
    The Fellow will be responsible for:

    Travel costs to Hong Kong (if applicable).
    Living expenses during their stay in Hong Kong and Washington, D.C. while undertaking the Fellowship Programme.
