    Join us at Ghent University (UGent) in Belgium and be a part of the innovative WHEATWATCHER project. This 4-year PhD fellowship focuses on developing and implementing an advanced soil and crop monitoring system to ensure quality and safe food production across Europe. The successful candidate will conduct research on monitoring contaminants in agricultural soils and wheat, contribute to the design and implementation of soil and crop sensing platforms, and support the WHEATWATCHER project tasks assigned to UGent. Responsibilities include supervising MSc students, publishing in scientific journals, and collaborating within the research group.

    Qualifications 

    • Master’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Agriculture Engineering (not agronomy), or Biosystems Engineering
    • Basic knowledge in sensing technologies, machine learning, and measurement systems
    • Proficiency in engineering software and modeling languages
    • Excellent project and time management skills
    • High proficiency in English communication and technical writing
