• Description:

Join the University of Bergen (UiB) in shaping the future by becoming a PhD Research Fellow in Microbial Ecology. This position offers a unique opportunity to delve into the intricate dynamics of microbial communities and their ecological and evolutionary mechanisms. Through laboratory experiments, computer simulations, and analyzing natural microbial communities, the successful candidate will contribute to advancing knowledge in this critical field.

The PhD Research Fellow position at the Department of Biological Sciences focuses on exploring various facets of microbial ecology and evolution. The candidate will engage in research involving virus-host interaction dynamics, co-evolution under diverse environmental conditions, and analysis of microbial communities’ responses to environmental changes. This project will utilize both laboratory and computational approaches, with possible use of RAS facilities, to investigate life strategy trade-offs in structuring microbial communities.
